I have a large client implimentation of an ERP system with around 250 concurrent user connection of high intencity / high load SQL DB's.
prevsoiuly with ESX 4.0 we were simply not able to virtualise this kind of load due to vCPU limit and RAM issue.
- testing showed that anything above 8vCPU and 16GB RAM is not properlly utilised in ESX 4.0
but with ESX 5.0, can this be done. the current hardware suggested to run on physical machine is a dual 8 core intel chips, Fusion IO and 64GB RAM.
can i simply create 1 VM on ESX host and assign it all the resources.
is there any vCPU utilisation issue (enterprise plus licensing site) with ESX 5.0 on high performance SQL DB servers, where allocating anything above 8vCPU simply will not yeald same kind of performance as running SQL physically.
