Re: SSO - HA or not to HA

Interesting.  Linked mode is a requirement so SSO will have to be installed in a multisite configuration.

So in a customer environment with multiple vCenters at a single site, the recommendation is to have an SSO server installed locally for each vCenter server?

Considering DR scenarios:

  1. if the standalone SSO server at the primary failed but the rest of the primary site is still up, the SSO server could be restored relatively painlessly and ESXi host operations would continue.
  2. If SSO standalone failed at the primary site and an SRM failover was necessary, the SRM server on the DR site will have access to the SSO standalone instance and VC in the DR site and should be able to execute a recovery plan.
  3. If the entire production site went down, SRM would still have access to SSO and VC in the DR site and can execute a recovery plan.

This is my understanding today, please let me know if I am misunderstanding?

Thanks,

Ed
