Even if it's set to always connect to the Virtual Machine the Host OS has to first recognize the device otherwise the Guest OS wouldn't see it and be able to attach it. In other words, there will always be a lag and I'd suggest you do your testing with a Physical Machine that Linux is running natively on it. Set up your current system to dual-boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04!
