Hi all.
I've spent the last 3 hours trying to figure this out to no avail.
I've got a N40L microserver running 16gb of ram with 1x 250gb hdd and 3x3tb HDD's on standard ESXI 5.1.
I've installed VMTools.
I am trying to load the hard drives into the VM and from what I can tell, using a RDM would be the best way of going about it. However, I seem to be having an issue in getting Windows to see them.
It comes up with a 100mb drive in disk manager in WHS 2011.
I've followed this guide:
http://blog.davidwarburton.net/2010/10/25/rdm-mapping-of-local-sata-storage-for-esxi/
Reading about, it would seem RDM's are limited to 2TB but some people have created a 6TB VKDM (though it doesn't specify if they were using Windows).
Someone fixed it here:

However, if I use a VML it states its not a physicla disk.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks,
James
