vSphere Replication or SRM??

I am tasked with developing a DR plan for our office.

  • Public Accounting office - single site with 55 employees and nine partners
  • 2 ESX hosts running 9 vm's
  • Equal Logic PS6100 SAN with about 3.5TB data
  • Currently running ESX Essentials but plan on moving up to Essentials Plus now that we have recently installed a SAN.
  • Planning to provide about 50 to 75% of our employee’s remote access until suitable temporary office space can be found.

I am looking one of the firms partners homes locating a Dell T610 server with enough recourses to run our environment. This would have to include a UPS and dedicated internet connection with static IP address. I am also looking at co-locating this server at another site but the closest co-location center is about an hour drive and seems to be very expensive.

What would the best choice in this situation, SRM or vSphere Replication. I understand that replication is included with Essentials Plus, (when we upgrade) but there seems to be some really nice features with SRM.

Suggestions?  Feedback?
